School Based Activities

Sky Sports Living for Sport with Daniel Caines

The PE department at Spring Hill High School has worked closely with the programme Sky Sports Living for Sport to raise motivation within our students. The department designed a personalised programme alongside athlete ambassador Daniel Caines - Olympic medalist. The specific outcome of the programme was to develop the self-esteem and intrinsic motivation of the students at our school. This was completed through sessions with Daniel Caines who shared his story and difficulties with the students and discussed ways in which he motivated himself to overcome those.

Local MP, Jack Dromey joined in our Citizenship lesson.

Spring 2016

Our Local MP Jack Dromey visited the school’s post 16 site on Friday 18th March 2016 to work with the pupils who are sitting the June 2016 Citizenship exam. As part of their Unit 2 Controlled Assessment (Advocacy and Representation) the students chose a citizenship issue close to their hearts and conducted extensive research to determine public opinions on the matter. They prepared a case for mounting a campaign on their issue and advocated it to a person in a position of power, with Mr Dromey commenting on their advocacy and addressing their conclusions and proposals.

Spring Hill High School went MAD SCIENCE!!

Autumn 2015

The ‘mad scientist’ visited the Wood End Lane site and students from Orchard Road and Slade Road were introduced to STEM activities that were creative, exciting and stimulating. They all dug in and at the end of the session they were asking for more. There is more madness to come!
