School Meals

Meal Options

At Spring Hill High School we are pleased to offer freshly cooked meals from our kitchens.

Every site has its own kitchen and its own cook whose job it is to ensure that meals are child friendly, affordable and of high nutritional standard.

All staff members, including the Headteacher, are Food Hygiene trained.

Our post 16 site has a qualified chef who keeps a keen and watchful eye on the the meals that are prepared on all the other sites.

Dishes are freshly prepared daily using quality ingredients. Meals are also prepared to meet the sensory needs of the students.

  • Different menus are organised weekly by the Learning Support Assistant who works in the kitchen. A main meal is offered daily. Students who do not want the main meal are offered a sandwich option.
  • A halal option and a vegetarian option are always available.

The Eatwell Guide

The Eatwell Guide is a policy tool used to define government recommendations on eating healthily and achieving a balanced diet. Meals at Spring Hill High School adhere to this guide and more information on it can be found at Eatwell Guide.

Payment

Meals are provided by the school for each student and parents/carers are not asked to pay for meals. Offering students a cooked meals daily falls in line with the Family Social Model that forms one of the theoretical bases of the school.

Packed Lunch

A packed lunch is always an option for those children who do not want the meals that are provided by the school. We are however a ‘healthy school’, therefore packed lunches must be healthy. Packed lunches will be monitored by the site’s Deputy Headteacher. Use the eat well guide for support.
