£447.79 spent on new equipment for the sensory room. This provides all students who are taught at Spring Hill High School a safe withdrawal space where they can decompress and access calming resources either alone or in a small group. Equipment included tactile cushions and toys, calming lights, weighted blankets and soft seating.
3 out of 5 Warwickshire students accessed the facility on a regular basis.
“I used the sensory room, soft play equipment and the bean bags most often. The sensory room is a very relaxing place and I feel like I can wind down in there. Sometimes the school was busy and would go there for quiet time. I liked to use the soft play to punch, this helped me let out my frustrations and I always felt much more relaxed afterwards.”
£160 spent on TA training to deliver “That Reading Thing” intervention. TRT is an age appropriate phonics intervention for teenagers and young adults. It is evidence-based, with roots in linguistic phonics which has been adapted for older learners. Training is still ongoing so no impact report available at this time.
