Online Safety Advice for Parents and Carers

Online Safety Advice for Parents and Carers

Internet safety is taught throughout the year at Spring Hill High School. It is embedded in our Computing and PHSE curriculum. The students cover various topics such as online grooming, sexting, image sharing to fake news. The students are taught awareness of these issues and how to spot the warning signs.

Safety Internet Day

We celebrate Safer Internet Day each year as it unites millions of young people across the UK to spark conversations on key issues around online safety. Check out their website for updated advice and guidance.

What can you do?

School newsletter

The school newsletter is a great way of accessing great advice and information from the ICT/PHSE department so keep an eye out for it.

Speak to the school

If you have concerns or questions about any online activities, please do not hesitate to contact the school or myself about your concerns or questions about social media, gaming or how to keep your child safe at home.
‘Technology, and the techniques used by those who wish to use it to harm us, are evolving over time so adapting to it will result in us creating a safe environment for our young people. We need to support them in becoming digital citizens and understand the roles, responsibilities and skills for navigating digital life to be able to manage the current and future risks posed by technology to our health and wellbeing, our relationships with others, and our career and financial prospects. It is important to think before you post anything online as we need to create positive digital footprints for the future”
Fawzi Ahmed, BA hons Human Resources and Management, PGCE ICT with QTS
(Head of ICT/Computing) [email protected].
